The 2009 St. Edward Eagles freshman football team entered the season looking to match last year’s undefeated Herbie squad. So far, they have met or exceeded expectations. The “A” team is currently 4-0, having defeated Mentor, Euclid, Findlay, and Akron Firestone.
Quarterback Ryan Fallon and running back Dwayne Aaron lead the team’s offense while the freshman defense is led by middle linebacker Lavonte Robinson.
Head Coach Greg Urbas said, “This team has no superstars. Just a bunch of kids who work very hard and who work together to get the job done.”
The “A” team will look to finish strong against Cardinal Mooney, Erie Prep, Benedictine, and the “Herbie Holy War” against St. Ignatius.
Meanwhile, the “B” team is currently 2-2. They started the season by beating Kenston and Milan Edison, but lost a close game to Cleveland Heights and a blowout to St. Vincent-St. Mary.
