Music Review: The Foo Fighters

Written by Connor Roth '11 on October 7, 2009.

The Foo Fighters is an incredible band that was founded in 1995. What many people do not know is that guitarist and vocalist, David Grohl, founded the Foo Fighters in response to Kurt Cobain’s suicide in April 1994. David and Kurt had grown to be close friends, as they both grew up together playing in Nirvana (David was the drummer). In the past fourteen years, the Foo Fighters have released six albums. Notably, The Colour and the Shape launched them into the mainstream, with hits such as “Everlong” and “My Hero.” Their second and third albums were both successful, but the two most recent records have separated the Foo Fighters as a “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” caliber band. In Your Honor and Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace include great hits such as “Long Road to Ruin,” “Best of You,” “The Pretender,” and “Come Alive.” Dave Grohl is an incredible songwriter and musician; not many people can nail guitar solos, hit the right pitches, and land every drum roll as he does. If you are looking for a great band that never has a stagnant album and has a lot of variety between songs, then the Foo Fighters are for you.
