Br. Peter Retiring from Post as President at the End of the Year

Written by Andrew Boros '10 on October 7, 2009.

Brother Peter Graham, who has been President of St. Edward High School since 2001, will be stepping down after this school year. Throughout his time as president he has made substantial progress to our academic and extracurricular programs. Under Brother Peter, the Student Activity Center, the athletic field, the Jack Kahl Student Life and Leadership Center, the Joseph and Helen Lowe Center for Engineering, and the Holy Family Chapel have been built.

The school board has appointed a search committee to recommend a new president. The search committee comprises five members of the Board of Trustees, a faculty member, a present parent, and an alumni representative. Mr. Dale LaPorte ’59, a board member, is the chairman of the search committee. He is assisted by Mr. Larry Gregg of the Lear-Group, a group that finds presidents for other Catholic high schools.

The interview process includes a phone interview followed by a face-to-face interview. The committee then selects a candidate for approval and sends the name of the candidate to the Board of Trustees. Following the approval of the Board of Trustees, the name of the candidate is sent to the Members of the Corporation, which include four brothers of Holy Cross, one elected member of the Board of Trustees, the present chairman of the Board of Trustees, and the past Chairman of the Board of Trustees. After the Members approve the candidate, the new president will be announced. The announcement will likely come this spring. The new president will assume the role of president of St. Edward High School on July 1, 2010.
